I didn’t want to put anything on it that would indicate he is a presidential candidate, because I think it would automatically turn some people off to him. His name is the medium, and his message is the culture. I’m trying to create more medium in which the culture can grow.

I am totally addicted…

Dear Internet,

Is anyone else totally addicted to information about Ron Paul? I know I am. I know I’m doing everything I can to help spread the word and the message. I’ve donated. I’ve told my friends and family about him. I have his bumper sticker on my car. I even act as human billboard on the side of the road some days.

I have a question for you. What happens when he does get elected? He’s only the president. Despite what the current administration says, the president does not have much power, especially when the rest of the government opposes his ideas. It is important that we find other politicians who support the same principles as Ron Paul and elect them too.

The Republican party has grown into a political cancer that could soon bring a permanent end to the America we learned about in school. Don’t get me wrong. The Democrats have done their share too, but not with the brazen lack of respect for rule of law, the constitution, and human decency that the current Republicans employ. We need sweeping change, and we need it now if we hope to salvage the Republic. We need to boot those who do not adhere to the constitution out of office. We have the power to do it, and thanks to the sad state of things now, we have the will.

One thing the Dr. Paul’s campaign is teaching us is that people do have the power to affect change. We can do it all by ourselves. We don’t need the media to spread our ideas, because they flow all by themselves through the web, and out into the world. A few clicks can start an avalanche.

I first learned about Dr. Paul through the social news site Digg.com, which is linked to on Paul’s website. Social news sites are so effective at spreading information people want because of the way they function, democratically. Users submit links, and they are voted up or down by other users. What better way to exercise our rights as citizens? One problem with major social news sites is they cover a broad base of topics and their users have a wide range of agendas.

To overcome this problem I have created a social news site at www.takebacktheparty.org. I’d like to invite anyone who wishes to return to the principles America was founded on to join it. Use it to promote news about the election, Ron Paul, and other politicians who we can trust to uphold the constitution. There is strength in numbers. The more people engaged in promoting these ideas, the more effective our individual efforts become. This is the Ron Paul Revolution!

update: 8.1.7 I’ve abandoned this project. It was initially started to feed my addiction for Ron Paul information. DailyPaul.com came around and filled that need with no effort on my part. One of these days I will start a social news site which fills a need which isn’t filled anywhere else. Until then I’ll just keep trying new things and doing what I do. One day we’ll get there.

Nearly a quarter a millennium ago a new nation was created, conceived in Liberty. The idea was that the government would be of the people, by the people, and for the people. The founders went about implementing those ideas as best they could, with the tools they had at the time.

Now, suppose certain evils become insufferable, and a nation finds itself in such a way today. How do you go about organizing a government that best represents the people?

Today our means of communication and interaction are vastly more powerful than before. The internet provides the medium for a true government of people. Just add culture.

The Old System

Darth Vader represents the natural imperialistic tendancies of society. The battle ensues between Hero and Darth. Just as Hero is about to eliminate the enemy, he is fooled with mentos. The mentos represent commercial interests of the empire, and the materialistic desires of the masses. In this case the empire uses the catchy theme song and tasty candy to make Hero forget the ongoing battle. Just as he accepts the mentos, the empire strikes him down, steals his belongings, and destroys the planet.
